Their Eyes Were Watching God

On this assignment we were instructed to create a new bookcover for our favorite book. I chose "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston. For those who have read the book do the images of the pear and pear tree, with the baby go along with the story line and theme of the book.

Earth Day Poster

Earth Day 2009!!!! How did you show your support for Earth Day this year? Many people are not even aware of the date, and purpose. So in my grd class, spring semester we had the option of creating our own Earth Day poster. I wanted to stay away from the cliche of "Earthy" images and create a poster that was beautiful and appealing to even the largest of litter bugs. Hopefully the poster could inspire anyone to help change the world for the better.

Beyond Beauty Cosmetics

Beyond Beauty Cosmetics was my first professional client. I very much enjoyed the challenge of creating logos, stationary, and brochures, for the Beyond Beauty Cosmetic Line.

This is Kaighns Avenue Designs

Well I bet your wondering where I came up with the name Kaighns Avenue. Well I am very big on how a persons history helps determine who they are and its important to always remember where you come from. My family history starts in the FABULOUS state of New Jersey. Within the city limits of Camden, a city located 5 minutes across the bridge from Philadelphia, PA. My mother and father were both raised in Camden, New Jersey, which sadly is now ridden with crime and drugs. Camden is no longer the beautiful place it used to be, and is very dangerous for those who dont know any better. My grandmother and grandfather still live in Camden and are now the only people living on their block on Kaighns Avenue. Kaighns Avenue has changed over the decades, with floods, and block parties, riots, and fires, but through it all the Hawkins family has been its lasting resident. I still love my town which has shaped my family, I don't live on Kaighns Avenue but it is still apart of who I am. The pride in the city of Camden, and the place it once was still lives strong in my heart and in my family. So needless to say Kaighns Avenue is who I am and my art is how I express myself to the world, its only fitting that I use it as my title. ENJOY!
